Mentor....why we need them in college..

I have been thinking about lots of things to write about but as everybody know how much lazy I am, it just didn’t happen until it is odd hour to keep your mind in mood to write or I am reminded repeatedly to finish the pending work by my scheduler (usually my back logs are so much that even that can’t be scheduled).

I was just reading one of my blog and thought how my opinion has changed from last year. It usually gives you a better perspective of things once you are away from that situation.

I never believed in the thought that you need good teachers in the MBA in my opinion far from teacher you need more of a motivator and mentor in the MBA who can guide you rather than putting more focus on teaching. I have seen both type of mentor in my MBA life. In first year I never had a single interaction with my mentor at that time but in the second year I had a mentor whom we used to interact daily and tell our though and problems daily related to college, life and profession.  At that time I written about what I felt for my mentor and it evoked lot of response. Some thought it was emotional other thought it was buttering. I written what I thought at that time was right and somehow it was true. I read that blog thousand times but still it feels it misses something or other thing.

When I left the college, I had only good things to say about my mentor. And now my junior has the same thing to say about my mentor. It is not about one person or a group of student, but when one group, second group and even third group start praising your. You bound to have something special. And I think my mentor has that thing, something that made her special teacher and mentor.

Well I hope she continue to mentor of many batch to come, that’s why I always say sometime age is not a barrier in what you can be. Sometime I miss mentor in my life. But what we can do, we all have moved on in our life but she still mentor and nurture lots of lost and potential talent in the college.
You need those kinds of people in college who can guide the talents in right way.
Once I want to a teacher of marketing in last year about to consult one of my projects, He rejected it and said it was not possible. But few months back when I started this blog in my college, my mentor was the first to believe in my idea. I am still continuing it; I hope to do it always on my own. But the faith she shown on my idea at that time has given me faith to continue this.

P.S.: Sometime In life you need those teachers who belief in your idea and let you free to choose your own path. I don’t want to name her but everyone who will read this will know who I am referring to.

The EQUATION of my college days And Its PARAMETERS....PART 3 (From Zero to Hero)

There was one incident in my college life which change my whole college life. That incident was first semester result in which I topped. From a zero in Allahabad university to batch semester topper in IEC and the awesome part was that I was first guy after few years to do so and then only song i can think of was this.....

Frankly I was the last student expected to top the class. To be fair I was also never expecting that result from myself. I screwed 2 or 3 papers in examination badly and still end up getting highest marks. Some say that is luck and I say luck with right chance.

In my friends group I was with least attendance, my assignments were always late and apart from economics no other subject was my favorite. I hated organization behavior and stats, both papers I screwed badly. My aim was always to pass with decent marks not a single time this thought came in my mind that will score highest marks in class. In my whole life I have always thought that scoring highest marks is not good for health. Maybe I never wanted to reach on top and I was happy in my own space.

After result it was whole new experience for me. Just everybody start thinking you are intelligent, which I am not. Friends and people who know you start thinking, how the hell he can top when he was least studying and one of the laziest persons in the world. I think they were right at that time. That made them think had he has been studying while we were sleeping. In reality I was the one sleeping most and studying less. People feel jealous of you, your comments are taken more personal especially regarding study and yet you fell " I don't care about you" Attitude.

The most irritating part was when everybody started calling me SAIFI SIR. I used to think, hold on man, I am just 21 year old and SAIFI SIR Sound makes me feel like 31 year old. But to be franks I enjoyed every bit of FAME in that period. Now everybody knows me for right reason and in my whole life it has been rare.

My stint at top was short one but one of the memorable one. I didn’t deserve to be there just because I never that hard to be there. Others have work hard and believe me very hard. They all studied late night, attended full class. Where was I all that time, sleeping and relaxing?

But this incident taught me one thing. Never ever in life underestimate yourself in whatever you do. Some time underdogs also perform well and just believe in you. Yet I exceeded my all expectations.

Lastly I would like to thank all the friends because of whom I achieved that thing. Nisheeth bhai ( a bade bhai, roommate and one who know all about how I topped),  jayant ( he was one the deserving candidate of topping the semester and I toppes just because of his questions), raj( he has similar story to me just he topped from down), kshama( she always say why you write and yet she is first one read and say nice one with her cutest simle), smita( only friend whom I have irritated most in first semester) and most important my family.

NOTHING DIES FASTER THAN A NEW IDEA IN A CLOSED MIND

In the History of mankind, whenever man has opened the shutters of his mind, healthy new ideas have breezed in. And he has vigorously steeped out of his narrow confines to discover continents and oceans, planets and galaxies.

But whenever man has shut out new ideas and gone into hibernation in the safety of old, rigid norms and human civilization has been shrouded by the gloom of dark ages. Now shake yourself out of your slumber. Step out of the den of stagnant thoughts, into the open field of bold new ideas. Soar high on the strength of an exploring mind to reach unknown heights of achievement & success.

The EQUATION of My College days And Its PARAMETERS..( DEDICATED TO PRERNA MA'AM)

Today I really want to thank someone whom I will always respect, remember and I do not have enough word to explain about my thought.

Not many of you will be able to guess the name. So, let me tell you I want to say special thanks from my side and from whole class and MBA department side to our one and only MENTOR PRERNA MA’AM….

In first year I didn’t had any direct interaction with ma’am. I just had known her as a one of the many faculties in my department. Our first interaction happened in second semester when she taught us subject named POM, as we famously called it. At that point we just started to interact with ma’am as a student.

POM was one of the most boring subject in MBA 2nd semester but still due to ma’am teaching way we were always attentive in class but not so in the subject. One thing I want to mention that there are teachers who always ask the question from few set of student but PRERNA ma’am used to still ask questions to the entire student in the class even if she knows that they will not answer it.

SCM and entrepreneurship subject provided me time to always get late in class in 2nd year. Ma’am also provided us the NOTES of the topics. But I don’t want to revel the attendance part just because its TOP SECRET.

Till this period she was only one of many faculties but you can always see why ma’am is different from others. In third semester she became mentor of our class. To be frank till that point I was not sure of mentor role and its need. But in the first interaction class only ma’am made sure she conveys her message to us about being mentor role and what she expects from us in future.

I never believed in the thought that you need good teachers in the MBA in my opinion far from teacher you need more of a motivator and mentor in the MBA who can guide you rather than putting more focus on teaching. I have seen both type of mentor in my MBA life. She always encouraged us to do thing which we thought we will never be able to do. Either it be to participate in debate, quiz contest and helping us matter of studies. As a mentor she has always helped us. Ma’am took personal interest in our MBA BLOG concept and believed in it. She was first to give me her post on the blog which is still on my blog. Though it was not successful for which i wanted but it was good experience. I am still continuing blog with diff. name with help of my friend Deepak. Maybe one day more people will turn out to write and express. I cannot say about other but for me she proved to be the best mentor I had ever after school days. Ma’am pushed me to take part in national summer training competition when even I was not sure about it. I gone to the competition  and won the prize. I still fell it was the better achievement in college life. Now i realize it is not about pushing you to perform better but as a mentor she knows that we can do it even if we doubt ourselves.

I tell you it’s hard to say the entire good thing about GURUS but still I believe a good mentor can be a best thing a student can get. PRERNA MA’AM may not be the teacher in eyes of many students but I will always say she is the one of the finest teacher and mentor in MBA department. In our time at IEC we lost few good faculties but at least ma’am remained.

I can only say these lines in end of my note……..
A GRAND SALUTE TO THE “DRONACHARYA”, WHO’S DREAM NEVER TASTED THE REALITY OF TURNING US INTO “ARJUNA”, BUT STILL THEY HAVE “FAITH” IN US

Note: I written this note some what a year back but i not on my blog. It was time to make this a Grand entry in my blog.

“In My Memories: PART-1 (Deepak)"

Dear friends it’s a Monday night and I just want to tell you all about one of the most memorable incident of my life, which to be fare I can never ever forget. Maybe what I thought was not accurate but then also it sounds funny to me.

I just want to tell you all about an incident relate to my friend Anil. Now lots of people will immediately remember him and for those who have not, let me enlighten you all. Anil was our batch mate, full name Anil Gangwar. Now he was one of my good friends but still there is one thing in him that makes me think and laugh more about it. If you ever thought of a competition about Lazy guy I think he will be perfect for it. He is one of the laziest guys I have ever been with.

I still remember the first day I saw him college. It was our first day in college and introduction class was going on. He was giving his introduction in front of the faculty and what he said I am trying to recollect from my remaining memory. He said, “I belong to a business family and I have a big business”. But as I analyzed his body language and his way of speaking was different. He even makes most smart student sound dumb with his style. He takes time to speak but when he speaks I think even he don’t know what he is saying. I remember one time even made one of our teachers to say, “It is better to sleep rather than to expect you to speak and act fast”.

As I was one his friend one day he called me up in the weekend and said he wants to visit my Village. I was amazed and told him to come any time. He made me wait 1 ½ hour for him on nearest bus stand for my village, which is far away from village. I thought he was very excited to visit my village and his expression said it all to me.

He sounded quite happy when he entered in my village. While entering in my village he saw a buffalo and asked me about it. So he asked me what this is. I thought he might not know about it so gave him a brief introduction about the buffalo. He lived few days with me and it was quite nice experience to live with him. As the last day arrived and he was ready to leave I just had one final question for him. I asked him, “Tell me truth about your business, what you do?”

He remained silent for few minutes and then he answered. Even today I remember each word of his answer and maybe I will never forget that answer in my life. He said, “My father is also farmer and we also purchase and sell buffalo”.

P.S.: Never ever judge a book by its cover, there may be more content inside rather that what you perceive.

The equation of my college life and its Parameters...........

As my college comes nears towards its end. My affection toward college has increased but toward classes has decreased. I do not know how to explain it but just you can say classes are sound like hangover time.

It is just that when your first semester starts you see classes as a time to learn and to be comfortable in new world. You always see this is your chance and you should make best use of it. Teachers seem to be your friend and you try to hear each and every word said by them. You go library in search of the entire new book related to you subject to gain advantage over other student. You always ask the difficult question in the class, even if it not directly or indirectly related to your subject. You don’t bunk the class or even try to do it.

The first semester of any MBA college seems to be so scoolish, but that’s what it is all about. After the first battle, then comes the second semester.

This is always different from first semester. You attendance dips a bit. The last bench is booked by few good fellows of class (like I used to have one for myself). Even though you know the answer, you are not first to raise your hand. Visit to library decreases like temperature in winter but it is replaced by canteen visits. Your assignments are either copied or submitted late. You even stop making subject wise note. New funda is to just get a photo copy of your friend notes.
In second semester you are more interested in which of you senior is placed where instead of focusing on your own summer internship. You are more worried about your job prospects even if it is one year away.

How could I forget, the new bonding in class. Some love birds are found and some jolly good friends. Friendship has an all new meaning in life. Living 24/7 is just becomes part of your life. Late night parties, some drinking and dancing all seems so good. Expenses surpass your bank balance. Phone bill rises to a new level and yet you think you talk so little in ratio of others.

Hey, still I am missing so many things. I think this will continue to come in. after all I can now only remember my college days like this.

Finally I want to just dedicate this note to all the student and faculty member of MBA in IEC. But the person who told me to write about college life and incident, I want to especially thank him. One of my friend DEEPAK.

A sher in my style

NEED OF THE CURRENT HOUR TO “PREVENT, PRESERVE AND PROTECT” OUR MOTHER EARTH……….

IN this present PHYSICAL AND MATERIALISTIC world, lot of voice has been raised for Physical pollution or techno- generated maladies such as: Energy and natural resource depletion, Environmental hazards, Global warming, formation of hole in Ozone layer, Deforestation, Soil degradation, Nuclear proliferation, Arms and ammunition blind race etc: all these are man made problems leads to threatening the base, which is essential for the survival of life on this plane

We all On an another side of this we are facing intellectual pollution as: a dangerously growing threats of terrorism, criminalization of so called politics- which has been generated by us specially for the hard core social service for the betterment of general public, unethical practices in our daily life, large scale corruptions, Fraudulent in economic transactions, breakdown of relationships, Depression and loneliness, Suicidal attempts, Murders of our own family members just for the sake of some amount of money etc

So IN MY OPINION, we all as the stake holders of this society should assemble on the common platform and have a deeper brain storming session on this gigantic problem and its root causes, and should come out with the solution for deterioration of physical and intellectual environment as a whole.
